Generally speaking, during the fermentation process, the temperature of organic fertilizer compost will rise to 50-65 degrees within 24-48 hours. If the temperature is not raised in time, the main reasons are as follows.
1. Water adjustment problem. First, check whether the water content over 60%. If so, add the appropriate auxiliary materials to adjust to about 60% and stir evenly. If it is less than 40%, add water or fresh manure to adjust to about 60% and then stir evenly.
2. C/N ratio is imbalanced. During the fermentation process, microorganisms need a suitable carbon-nitrogen ratio for effective decomposition. Usually, the carbon-nitrogen ratio required for compost organic fertilizer fermentation is 25/1-30/1. Appropriate auxiliary materials or nitrogen fertilizers and compound fertilizers can be added to adjust the C/N ratio.
3. The pH value too high or too low. When the pH value is too low (≤5.0), the substrate degradation rate is almost zero, and when the pH value is too high (≥9.0), although the substrate degradation rate is reduced, ammonia nitrogen will volatilize in large quantities, resulting in serious nitrogen loss. Therefore, controlling the appropriate pH value is crucial to maintaining the nutrient content of organic fertilizers and promoting plant growth. The suitable pH range is usually 6-9. When the pH is low, H3PO4 or KH2PO4 can be added; when the pH is high, K2HPO4 can be added in appropriate amounts.
4. Strong odor or mosquitoes and flies breeding. The ammonia content is too high (C/N is less than 20). Use microbial deodorants for disinfection and deodorization, and add high-carbon substances such as crop straw, peanut shells, rice husks, etc.
5. Poor air permeability. You can add straw powder or support the bottom and turn the pile again to increase the oxygen content during the fermentation process.
6. The effective live bacteria count of the compost fermentation agent used is too low to achieve the warming effect. It is recommended to change the fermentation agent.
